.
measuring hair loss at women: the Ludwig scale

Brief overview

The extent and pattern of female pattern baldness is often classified using a Ludwig scale.

Representation
The higher the number, the more advanced the loss. The rate at which women lose hair  differs. There are women that lose hair very rapidly in their 30's up to a Ludwig II will stay at that point for years and only after their 50's the alopecia will slowly evolve to a Ludwig III phase.
Diffuse hair loss in women can occur mainly after giving birth due to hormonal imbalance.
With the restoration of the hormonal balance, the hair loss recedes gradually.
A good and balanced diet, normal levels of alpha-Tocopherol and iron contribute to a steady recovery.
A daily intake of vitamin A 5 times higher than the daily recommended dosage or a lack of iron contribute to advanced hair loss.
Prokeratin® is especially effective in cases of female hair loss and gives your skin an excellent dermatological condition, due to the fact that its formula is truly 100% natural, without any synthetic ingredients.
Prokeratin's composition has the ability to bring back the healthy ph of the skin and calm the dermatological inflammation that might arise at the exodermal level.

Here are some several factors that may contribute to hair loss.

> you have a chronic or systemic iron deficiency; women who are menstruating, especially if they have heavy periods experience a severe lack of iron with symptoms as fatigue, lack of energy, shortness of breath, headache, irritability, dizziness, or weight loss;
> you suffer from Hypo- or Hyperthyroidism, Hypopituitarism, Hypoparathyroidism;
> you suffer from drug-induced conditions such as those produced by contraceptives, like for instance induced hormonal imbalance, strong or large-spectrum antibiotics administered for a long period of time, as well as those conditions induced by anticoagulants;
> you are affected by constant or extremely stressful situations;

The extreme stress contributes to the so called "telogen effluvium" when hair falls visibly more than normal, in a short time span.
Students experience this before exams when they have a lot to catch-up with and the finals approach. Lack of sleep and poor nutrition accelerate the telogen effluvium.
Luckily, telogen effluvium disappears slowly when these causes are eliminated.

The scale
There are three distinct stages of hair loss identified in the Ludwig scale.
Ludwig I is the beginning of visible hair loss, Ludwig II shows the hair receding in a oval-shaped pattern. Ludwig III shows the most severe receding pattern.
